Mercury is a heavy metal that is widespread and persistent in the environment. Mercury also has adversed effect to human health and the environment. In 2009 UNEP made a decision to review and assess options for enhanced voluntary measures and new or existing international legal instruments for addressing the global challenges posed by mercury. Industrial Technology Research Institute, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) had been recognized as NGO by Minamata Convention, and successfully participated the “Diplomatic Conference for the Minamata Convention on Mercury”. This project includes follow items: 1. Collected relative data during the Diplomatic Conference for the Minamata Convention on Mercury. 2. Assisted EPA to participate Minamata Convention with the identity of NGO. 3. Output a report of Minamata convention. 4. Translate the Minamata Convention text.
